These threats have placed stored information at risk with the possibility of jeopardizing the integrity and availability of information. Security of networks and devices connecting to the internet is considered to be major global challenge to which Governments must respond.

World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD) is also geared towards raising awareness of ways to bridge the digital divide.
