Government wide MIS training for new software
Here's an idea:
How about establishing one procurement process on behalf of all Government Ministries for Training at a single institution that will allow for:
- Training on all the new Microsoft based software productivity tools covered under the Enterprise Agreement
- Training on all server-side Microsoft tools covered under the Enterprise Agreement for MIS Officers
- Training on any other tool that is common across all ministries (we could take a poll on such software)
- A number of days which we could utilize at our conveniece to receive training, that would roll over from year to year
There are a few training institutions that offer this kind of package (especially the last point). They also offer volume pricing that would be even more cost effective if we have a large participation base. If this is done as one procurement exercise, it would be easy to justify at Cabinet on the basis that it would be very cost effective. Companies like New Horizon, Dot Tech and a few others would be invited to bid on the contract - which would be effective for as long as we have unused days of training.
Each ministry could solve the problem of having to budget for training for each financial year if we did this as one collective exercise. Let me know what your thoughts are.
